About our Principals……
Laurie De Jong
Laurie De Jong (LD) began her career in 1988 at Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company where she Oversaw the Sales Promotion, Beauty Advisor Training and Launches of several of the companies key fragrances such as Obsession, Obsession for Men, Eternity, Eternity for Men and Escape. She coordinated trainings events at key Department Stores around the United States and Fragrance Launch events both in the United States and Europe. She left Calvin Klein in 1994 to become partner and Chief Operating Officer of JR Morrissey, A women’s clothing company in NYC. LD oversaw day to day operations, finances and the opening and operation of 3 showrooms in key markets. The company grew to 5 million dollars in wholesale volume within 3 years. They subsequently launched another successful label called Womyn, which was sold to a large conglomerate in 2000. LD took a two year work hiatus beginning in 1997. During that time, LD began volunteering for The Fresh Air Fund, a Non-Profit Organization that provides summer vacations to inner city children. She coordinated the program for Suffolk County Long Island and during her five year term, grew the program from 25 children to 135 children. LD is still active in the organization today. Anxious to return to the events business, LD launched LDJ Productions in 1999. LD brings 19 years of event and business operations experience to LDJ. Her corporate background and creative ability bring a unique mix to the company. She holds a BSW in Social Work from Marist College in Poughkeepsie and Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. She resides in NYC and Sag Harbor with her husband JR Morrissey and two children Jack and Joie.
David Steinberg
David was born in Monrovia, Liberia and spent several years in the Central African Republic, (formally Zaire) and in the Ivory Coast as the son of a diplomat and Journalist. In between tours in Africa, David grew up in the suburban Washington DC area. David graduated from The Mercersburg Academy, where he met business colleague, Rick Fatzinger. David had always shown an interest in the creative arts and decided to pursue acting at the University of Maryland. He graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Theater Arts. That same year, he moved to New York City to participate in the inaugural class of the New Actor’s Workshop where he was able to study with legends Mike Nichols and Paul Sills. Following this program, he founded his own theater company, Made by Hand. He pursued acting with his own company as well as in off off Broadway Theater. In addition, he taught theater classes at The Urban Academy, an alternative Public High School in NYC. In the mid 1990’s, David began working as Personal Assistant to Fred Hughes, ex-business partner and Executor to the Estate of Andy Warhol and founder of Interview Magazine.This experience proved invaluable; with exposure to many new aspects of the creative arts in New York. From his interest in theater production, David also began to work in live event production with Rick Fatzinger at Rand.M Productions. There he gained extensive experience working backstage at fashion shows nationwide. He was Project Manager for many corporate events including Target Townhouse Project during the summer of 2001 and the Target Holiday Boat Project in November/ December of 2002. It was also during this time that David met LDJ Owner Laurie DeJong and colleague Drew Jacoby while working on fashion shows throughout New York City. David began to work with LDJ Productions on a freelance basis in 2002 and then on a full time basis in 2003. David specializes in Production Management, Set Concept and Design and Technical Direction with LDJ Productions. His broad experience and talent have been vital to the expansion and success of LDJ. David currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
Drew Jacoby
Drew Jacoby was born in New York City where he spent his formative years developing his love of music and the arts. He moved to the Jersey Shore in the mid 80’s where he lived for 12 years. In that time he worked and toured as a lead singer/songwriter while managing bands, popular clubs and performance venues. He gained extensive management and tour experience, while sharpening his negotiation skills, and further grew his musical talents and appreciation for music while making significant contacts in the music industry. In 1995 Drew was made the Director of Events for a successful NJ Promotion Company. Given the task of expanding the division, he coordinated launches and special events throughout the tri-state area for such clients as New Jersey Transit, Provident Bank and K. Hovnanian Homes, and grew the company’s event department by over 200%. Drew returned to NYC in 1997 where he earned his degree in Fashion Merchandising & Management from New York’s prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology. While attending FIT, he worked one season backstage at New York’s Fashion Week as a Volunteer and was subsequently offered an assistant management position. Within just a few seasons he was asked to become the Venue Manager for the “Tent”, the largest and most prestigious venue of the New York shows. Between fashion seasons he freelanced in event production and fashion show direction where he worked on such large scale events as the Coors Light Mountain Jam @ Red Rocks for Clear Channel & the NFL Kickoff in Times Square for IMG, as well as fashion shows for Douglas Hannant & Lane Bryant. It was at the New York Fashion Week shows that he met and joined forces with Laurie De Jong, David Steinberg and Rick Fatzinger. His specialties include Show Direction, Choreography, Music Sourcing & Editing, and Computer Graphics and Design. Drew’s unique ear for music, eye for detail and commitment to complete client satisfaction are invaluable to the success of LDJ. Drew resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife Meredith and new baby girl, Charlie.
Rick Fatzinger
Rick Fatzinger met LDJ Owner, Laurie DeJong, in the Spring of 1999 in a joint multi- venue fashion show venture producing Soho Partnership’s South of 7th Young Designer Collections. He worked with her on several projects in his own company and on a freelance basis with LDJ until joining the company full time in 2004. He met his business associate, David Steinberg, while in a college preparatory program at the Mercersburg Academy. After obtaining a nomination and appointment, he attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and completed a double major in Naval Science and Political Science specializing in Soviet Studies. After leaving the Navy, he moved to NYC and began managing creative businesses. For nine years he worked for Silverpoint Studios, a conglomerate company of an Artist Studio for principle Photo Realist Painter, Charles Bell, and a Commercial Interior Design Company, Will Ching Planning and Design. He managed both companies including: All design, art studio and office personnel; Accounting books and financial reporting; Business and individual owner investment portfolios; and Client and Gallery relations. In 1997, he joined Event Production Company, Rand.M Productions. In addition to his duties as business manager, he oversaw the complete renovation of a 7000 sq ft space into an office, production, rental space and showroom and co-produced and directed events and shows. He managed the backstage for over 100 fashions shows including; Kenneth Cole, Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller, BCBG and Giorgio Armani. He also co-produced Smashbox L.A. Fashion Week; Saturday Collections of General Motor’s Fashion Week and 2 seasons of Soho Partnership’s South of 7th Young Designer Series. He also co-produced and directed events for Corporate Clients such as: Target; Gap; Disney / Time Warner; General Motors; The City of New York; Mercedes-Benz and Smirnoff. From this experience, Rick brings to LDJ excellent analytical, organizational and creative skills. He specializes in large scale Event Coordination, Logistics Planning and Strategic Development of projects. He currently resides in Miami, Florida and New York City.
